目标检测(Object Detection)是计算机视觉中一个重要且具有挑战性的问题。尽管过去几年自然场景中的目标检测取得了重大进展，但遥感影像上的检测任务进展缓慢，这不仅是因为航拍图片中物体实例的规模、方向和形状变化巨大，还因为航空场景缺乏良好标注的数据集。为了推进遥感图像物体检测的发展，团队提出了用于遥感检测的大规模数据集[DOTA]。团队在自然图像检测与遥感目标检测任务中取得了突出的成绩，相关工作发表在TPAMI、CVPR、ICCV等顶级期刊和会议。团队相信，大规模的数据集、广泛的基线、代码库和挑战可以促进遥感检测任务蓬勃发展。
